InkBlocks Privacy Policy
Last updated 2026-10-23
1. Who we are
InkBlocks is a puzzle game made by Smartbee LLC ("we", "our", or "us"). You draw your own blocks and place them on a board to clear lines. There is no sign-up or account. This policy explains what information the iPhone app and the website version (inkblocks.app) use, why, and the choices you have.
2. Information stored on your device
Your game in progress, best score, settings (music, sound effects, haptics, gameplay data sharing, whether you have seen the tutorial), the day you first played and how many games you have played are saved on your device so you can continue later. In the iPhone app a backup copy is kept in the app's own storage on the device. This information is not sent to us.
3. Anonymous gameplay statistics
To tune difficulty and fix problems, the game sends us two kinds of anonymous gameplay data:
- Game summary. When a game ends (or you leave the game), a short summary of that game: game numbers such as score, best score, game length, number of turns and line clears, the difficulty level reached and why the game ended, plus your browser or device's user-agent string (the app/browser and operating system version). It also includes two coarse ranges: roughly how long ago you first played on this device (such as "2–6 days") and roughly how many games you have played on it (such as "6–20 games"). The actual date and count stay on your device, and these ranges contain no identifier.
- Moves in the game. The list of moves you made in that game: which canvas cells you drew, where you placed each block, and timing (when each block was placed, how long until you started drawing, and how many times you redrew). It does not include the path of your finger while drawing.
Both are tagged with a random game ID that is created fresh for each game. It is not tied to you, your device or any account, and we do not link different games together. The data does not include your name, contact details, location, advertising ID or any account or device identifier.
The data is received by our server on Vercel and stored with our database provider, Neon (in the United States). Move lists are kept for up to 90 days and game summaries for up to 180 days, then deleted automatically. As with any internet request, our hosting and database providers receive your IP address to deliver the request; we don't store it with this data. We don't share this data with advertisers.
You can turn this off any time in the game's Settings › Share gameplay data. When it is off, the game stops sending both kinds of data and deletes any not-yet-sent data on your device.
4. Advertising
The iPhone app is free and shows ads provided by Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, Google may collect information such as your device's advertising identifier (IDFA), IP address, device and app information, and how you interact with ads.
- Tracking permission. iOS asks whether InkBlocks may track you. If you choose "Ask App Not to Track", your advertising identifier is not shared and ads are less personalized. You can change this any time in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
- EEA, UK and Switzerland. If you are in these regions, the app asks for your consent through Google's consent form before showing personalized ads.
- Google's use of this information is described in Google's privacy policy: How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Website (inkblocks.app). The website loads Google AdSense and may show ads provided by Google next to the game. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to show and measure ads, including personalized ads based on your visits to this and other websites. Visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland are asked for consent through Google's consent message before personalized ads are shown. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ad Settings or at aboutads.info. Ads are never placed over the game board.
5. Game Center
If you are signed in to Game Center on your iPhone, your scores may be submitted to Apple's Game Center leaderboards, where your Game Center nickname and score can be seen by other players. This is handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. You can sign out of Game Center in iOS Settings.
6. Children
InkBlocks is a general-audience game and is not directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
7. Your choices
- Delete the app, or clear the website's data in your browser, to remove everything stored on your device.
- Change ad tracking in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
- Turn off Settings › Share gameplay data to stop sending gameplay statistics.
- Gameplay data contains no identifier that points to you, so we can't find "your" data individually; move lists are deleted automatically after 90 days and game summaries after 180 days.
8. Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we'll post the new version here and change the date at the top.
